Molly Soda

Molly Soda (b. Amalia Soto, San Juan, Puerto Rico, 1989) is a New York-based artist working in performance, video, photography, and installation. Her practice blurs the line between online user and artist to explore broader shifts in culture. She both participates in and subverts existing consumer trends, aesthetics, and technologies, unearthing emotional undercurrents in the process. Soda, who first rose to prominence on the blogging platform Tumblr, often brings her audience into her work, integrating feedback and comments into her performances. She collects digital ephemera and detritus, often combining it with her personal archives. While the majority of her work lives online, she has exhibited extensively internationally with installations, live performances, and in-person screenings. Her work is in the permanent collections of Centre Pompidou, Museum of the Moving Image, and Thoma Foundation. In 2024, she debuted her play “Trivial Pursuit” at PAGEANT in Brooklyn. Recent screenings and performances include “Meeee,” Alyssa Davis Gallery, New York, NY (2025); “Wild Berry Red Bull,” V&A Museum, London, UK (2025); “A Girl Dancing Until The End of Time,” Centre Pompidou, Paris, France (2024).
